Recruiting phase
Gathering phase
Verifying phase
Final phase

Exploring phase: The major aspects of the project are still being ironed out. If you have something that you'll like to see happen, now would be the time to bring it up.

We (Miz and I) are still early on in the process of working this out, but here's what we have so far:

~ We are hoping for two different age groups (still deciding on the ages) so that the questions can be challenging to everypony. The "simpler questions" are generally going to be reserved for the younger audience while the more "challenging" ones are reserved for the older audience.

~ There are going to be a lot of questions that are needed to be gathered (so that the game doesn't get stale after a few rounds)

~ We generally see this as a classic jeopardy-style type of game (where the questions, answers, and categories are phrased in such a way.)

~ However, We have not excluded the possibility of having groups compete against each other. Who knows, maybe we'll have a jeopardy-style tournament and the winner gets a special trophy. We haven't made up our minds

~ It is going to be a lot of work (and i do mean a lot).

We are going to keep in contact with the staff as dates become closer and we actually have things to show.

What we want to hear is what everypony's ideas are for this type of event.

Suggesting categories and questions are fine, but try to limit them now. There will be a time to bring those up.

If you would like to volunteer or curious about something else, feel free to contact Miz or I personally.

Any questions?

Excellent. I've got this marked down.

Let me know what you work out and we can see what we can put together.

That's good to know.

I'll keep on communicating with Miz and see what we need.

I can think of a few things though.

Like a nearby trophy maker to make some MLP related trophies for the game.

Something to keep in mind is a projector to display the game board (if we do decide to go that route).

Everything else that i can think of can wait until we finalize some details once we get closer to the event date.

i think i can dig up a projector myself, if we cant find one. worst comes to worse, we can just use a whiteboard or something.

Designing questions for these things can be hard, as either they are maddeningly difficult, or blindingly easy most of the time. I have tried and failed before. Best of luck to you.

I am going to derail the crap out of this thread.

Jeopardy is ok. I mean, it doesn't suck but to me it also isn't great. But! This item has given me what I think is an even BETTER idea!

Family. Feud.

People can sign up in teams of 4-6, and because it's essentially 1v1 you can potentially set up some sort of tournament bracket where winners play each other. Also I think it's a funner game overall for both participants and spectators, watching people try to guess what everyone ELSE guessed rather than just answering questions.

If we HAD to go the "question and answer route" (maybe not enough people for Family Feud) I personally would much rather see something closer to Win Ben Stein's Money than Jeopardy. That show is way funnier and much more exciting.

I think that's where we are headed, for more of a team/cooperative play style.

Like i said, there is still time to discuss these things.

Ohhhh wow, I forgot that show existed. I'm going to have to look that up now and watch it for hours.

I think having a trivia game of some sort would be fun! Jeopardy might be a little too rigid, but having a team scenario would work. You'd be running a lot of qualifiers to boil it down to just a few teams though. Maybe make it a lottery like the Omegathon (PAX)?
