We NEED a PMV contest. I don't care if I have to organize it MYSELF and show them in Con Ops THIS IS A THING THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

Well, we do have that super fun channel they're giving us... We could also re-broadcast the PMV event via the channel.

We get a channel? Like on the television? Crazy. PMV event would rock and we could confuse non-con guests at the hotel at the same time!

On the channel: Oftentimes, conventions hosted in hotels are given their own CCTV channel that displays in all the hotel rooms. Many "grown up" conventions and conferences use them as an information scroll, to keep their attendees informed, but they can be used for anything the convention desires, within bounds of taste and acceptability set by the hotel.

On the PMV thing: I'm actually friends with the guy that runs Sakura-Con's AMV room / contests, and the guy is a GURU at this stuff. If deemed appropriate, I'd be willing to learn the ins and outs of setup, flow, etc. to keep the PMV room a hot spot. Let's try not to make it a travesty, like I've seen some cons do (first year of Aki Con comes to mind. Youtube on an untuned projector, with sound coming from the projector's tinny speakers? Yeah, no).

on a similar note, it would be nice to have a room set up with a projector or somthing always showing pmv's or other fanmade videos.

That would be cool. A nice room to wander into between dedicated panels. As for the channel, between PMVs and all other great fan media alongside panels, that channel will be bouncin'.

I have a goal to have a good cry to that "Cosmic Love" PMV with you at this convention. It must be done.

A PMV room would be a cool thing to have.

But I would also like to see a PMV panel/workshop with people who make the videos talking about the process, their favorite videos and/or teaching people some things about how to make videos of their own.

Thoughts on that?
