Hi everypony! <3

So my fiance and I have been vendors at Sakura Con for the last....4 years or so. He's not so much of a brony as I am, but since Everfree falls on my birthday, he said we can go. I asked him about being a vendor, and he said he'd be willing to give it a try.

So, long story short, we're considering vending. Is there anything you guys are looking for in particular? More handmade than mass produced? More mass produced than handmade? Pins? Hats? Basically, I'm looking for ideas of what's possible to create enough of by August.

Anything pony-related will sell well, but unique badges always do really well. A style or technique you can do quickly for maximum profit always blows up at any convention.

You see, we have a pin press, so we were thinking pins and whatnot, as well as letting people be able to design custom pins that we could then punch on site. It's just hard to find a good balance between what will appeal to children as well as adults, since we've worked with a teen/adult crowd for quite some time. (As well as finding the financing to do this and find an apartment, lol)

I (personally) love hand-made stuff, but understand that some sort of mass production would be needed in order to fill quota.

That said, i do love pins, and buttons can be appealing to the masses (and younger folk).

I also like unique items that falls in line with the theme.

Also, people tend to pay big bucks for creations that are the most "show-realistic" items.

Plushies: I've seen great ones that goes for top dollar (if they're realistic enough) and others that don't the best "realism" flounder. If you want to go big, this would be the way to go.

As for other stuff, i would ask around and see what other fellow bronies like.

Side note: When is your Birthday? Mine is Aug. 29th.

I don't really want to try to go through Hasbro to get figures to sell, that's really not my thing. I'm all for hand made things, and I'm actually looking at basing a makeup line off of the mane six, maybe throw a few others in.

I was thinking of taking my next day off, and watching everything all over again to see if there was any things Rarity makes (for example) that I could easily recreate to sell as well.

I'm not so sure about plushies, as much as I would love to do them. I know somebody who is going who makes amazing ones, I know mine couldn't compare.

I wasn't meaning for you to go through Hasbro. People can make their own mass produced items (like pins, cookies, buttons).

Something from the first public meeting: If the other person is willing to make and sell plushies at the convention, you both can get a dealer's table and split the cost.

Each vendor gets their own table, two chairs, and two badges. So you could split the table in two, both of you sell your items, and then split the cost of the vendor badge.

That way, you both can save $35 bucks (or however you we're going to split the cost) and reduce your overhead and potentially make a profit.

If you both have a few items that you both specialize in at the event, you could even cross promote each other and help drive business that way.

Just a few ideas that came across my mind.

I found that each vendor gets one vendor badge and one "helper" badge.
The "helper" must also purchase a "normal" badge, so the cost savings is a bit less.

good post! always good to know what bronies are looking for. I will be selling there and I will have pony necklaces, pony ears, and handmade plushes! I also want to make some clothes for ponies to wear. I will also have small 1" buttons, and have some prints too.
I might also have some other items such as bought merchandise that I just decided not to keep or have extras of.
