Welcome to Everfree Northwest 2013!

Setting, at its core, is "where the story happens," but establishing a convincing setting is difficult work. In this panel, we'll discuss how to make a believable world, as well as how to take an existing one and make it your own. We'll also cover such diverse topics as consistency and the fanon/canon divide, as well as when and how to take a story away from source material without feeling forced.

A room where musicians can get together and have a jam session during the convention

The panel will be about the growing industry of pony commissioned art. Hiring an artist to draw your OC is a common thing now, and quickly becoming a big buisiness with ponies. This panel will discuss how to find an artist, articuate your vision, negotiate fees, and what to do in the event of a dispute

Amy Keating Rogers has been one of the most noteworthy writers for Friendship is Magic for all 3 seasons, as well as the upcoming 4th season! Come join us as we do a live interview with Amy followed by a public Q/A.

Peter New and Andrea Libman play a series of short, fun games because everypony LOVES to play party games!

Plot, simply put, is "what happens in the story," but it's so much more than that. From the opening action to the climax and close is what drives the narrative forward. It's the "and then what" that keeps readers engaged. In this panel, we'll talk extensively of how to craft a plot that keeps the audience interested, plot twists, telegraphing, and the full narrative arc.

The first panel of its kind, focusing on orchestral/soundtrack music and composition in the pony fandom. Featuring Stars in Autumn, Tsyolin, Orchestral Design, and Captain Fluffatun. You will get to hear them talk about how they got their start musically, what musical influences they have had over time, and how the fandom has changed their perspective on music as a whole. Featuring epic music before the panel, and a live premiere of a new song by Stars in Autumn and Orchestral Design towards the end. The panel will have an open Q&A session in the last half hour.

Hear our guests discuss how an idea flows from words on a page to a plan for animation.

Character, or "who the story is about," but that only scratches the surface. Every character has a voice, a history, and goals that will drive stories forward and force them into conflict. In this panel, we'll cover Mary Sues, dialogue, backstory, personality, and other traits that make for strong characters in your tales.

We all love the Mane Six and have learned many things from them, but what can they teach us about voice acting? During this lecture, we'll look at the positive and negative traits of each of the characters to see how they can be applied to voice acting

Screening and Q&A with Sherclop Pones (Griffin and Jenny), creators of Friendship is Witchcraft

A panel with the creators of Legends of Equestria, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Come hear how it all began, the current status of the game, and ask all your questions of the developers of this ambitious project!

Join members of the subreddit r/mlpdrawingschool in an interactive workshop teaching you how to draw ponies. There will be a strong emphasis on personalized feedback and instruction, with multiple artists providing feedback. The panel begins by explaining the basics of drawing and allows for participants to follow along in a demonstration so they can leave the panel with their very own pony art!

Two nights of the best pony music our fandom has to offer! Friday night is a lineup of hard rocking instrumental and rockbands, featuring a set by the talented Michelle Creber (Apple Bloom)! The full list of performers: Brony Mike, HeyLasFas, Michelle Creber, Kella-Bo-Bella, Scherzo, Replacer, Poni1Kenobi, Tarby, Donn DeVore, Metajoker, and Acoustic Brony.

Interviews and perspectives from around the MLP fan fiction community. This will be a screening of assembled footage, followed by a Q-and-A where your questions will be answered and you can provide direct feedback before the documentary is finalized.

Michelle is known to MLP fans around the world as the speaking/singing voice of Apple Bloom and the singing voice of Sweetie Belle. At the age of 10, she recorded "Hush Now Quiet Now" and hasn't looked back! Michelle released her internationally successful debut CD "Timeless: Songs of a Century" last year at Everfree Northwest's Ponystock and is thrilled to be back. A sensational live performer who is now 13, Michelle's concert includes pop, rock and jazz hits that showcase her incredible style and versatility. Daniel Ingram says "Michelle is a vocal powerhouse, with boatloads of talent and the musical instincts to match. She's THE young performer to watch."

Have you ever been interested in what came before Friendship is Magic? Curious to know what a sea pony is? Or maybe you are just interested in seeing older merchandise? Then come to 'From Ponyland to Equestria: The history of My Little Pony'! You will be taken on a thirty-year journey through the ups and downs of the franchise, and hopefully learn a thing or two you didn't already know. In just an hour you will see rare and hard to find ponies, clips from the show, and early versions of your favorite G4 ponies! Come learn where your pony roots came from!

An opportunity for fan fiction authors and fans to informally meet up and talk about anything fanfiction.

Brony Aerospace is a brony-run aerospace group started as a way for scientifically-inclined ponies to contribute to the fandom. We design and build commercial launch vehicles for private space exploration to fund scientific exploration. We are run in a near-non-profit way and we try to contribute as much as possible in any way we can and draw attention to the fandom by beating space milestones. This is our unique way of contributing to a very unique fandom.

For you early risers, there will be a free breakfast in the Crystal Ballrooms thanks to our Chairman Royal Coat. It is first come, first served, so when we run out it is gone. It will be held Saturday morning at 8AM in the Crystal Ballroom in the Convention Center, so come have breakfast with us!

Three MLP fans, Scherzo/Bloo/ponymommy, will host a roundtable discussion with parents and other +1s who are attending the convention with a pony fan but are not involved in the fandom themeslves. A brief introduction to My Little Pony, as well as the brony phenom, will open the panel. A question-and-answer session will follow to help the attendees understand more about their child or loved one's interest in ponies.

The Everfree Northwest PMV contest is back for its second year, and this time the Pony Music Video category is joined by the Pony Movie Video category! Come see never-before released PMVs! Who will walk away as the best Music Video and Movie Video of Everfree Northwest? Join us and find out!

A panel dedicated to getting an editor and/or pre-reader, being an editor/pre-reader, co-operation, and of course improving as an author, editor, and/or pre-reader.

A fashion-show like event where each person gets 30 seconds to strut their stuff. There are both foal (kid) and pony (adult) divisions, so everypony is invited to sign up. If you plan on participating, please arrive 30 minutes before the start of the panel.

This year, over 22,000 bronies of all ages, genders, races and nationalities filled out the Brony Herd Census. Come learn what makes a brony tick. How has the Herd changed from 2012? Who is favorite pony, and how does someone's personality type, gender or age change the answers they give? Why are so many bronies introverts? What do they spend their time doing, and just what does a typical brony look like?

What separates good stories from great ones? Literary merit is, abstractly, the quality of stories that we project onto "classics." In this panel, we'll talk about some of the ways in which stories do more than simply convey words on a page.

Our panel will have teams from multiple game groups including My Little Investigations, which will help discuss what people need in order to pursue their game creation from start to finish. This panel will provide information on creating a game development team, recruiting talent, writing the story, and even distribution of the product.

Do you fancy yourself a writer? Come show us what you've got! Everypony will be given two hours to compose two-thousand words around a series of prompts and inputs. The results will be scored by a panel of judges and the winners will be given a chance to share their creations live!

We will be observing a moment of silence Saturday at 2:30 in recognition of the loss of Kiki

Based on the show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" but with a pony twist. In this panel, audience members will be chosen to come up on stage and participate in improv scenes. Common prompts include "Two-liners," "Superheroes," "Questions Only," "Director's Cut," "Scenes from a hat" and more. Come watch the hilarity, and maybe join us on stage!

Come on by to have a video chat with the attendees of Anthrocon, who are holding a convention at the same time as Everfree Northwest!

Utilizing his years of experience teaching kids, OsakaJack presents a panel game for all ages with prizes abound. Part skill, part knowledge, part ability and part luck, everyone has a chance to win. Prizes from Japan to those able to participate, with premium items to the winners. Come and have fun!

An auction raising money for the Seattle Children's Hospital, featuring donations from guests, attendees, and members of the community. Featured this year are an oil painting, a pendant, a costume of Princess Celestia, and many, many more wonderful items. We hope to raise more than last year's amazing total of $13,535. Every cent raised goes to the Hospital, so come down and throw some bits at pretty things!

The developers behind My Little Investigations will be talking to and taking questions from fans about all things MLI. Hear from them on how the first case went, what it was like developing it, what their thoughts are on the future of the game - and you can expect some teasers for case 2 as well. MLI fans won't want to miss it, and newcomers to the game are welcome too!

The Freemarket RPG is set in a post scarcity society, where there's no longer hunger, no longer poverty, no longer permanent injury, no longer energy shortages, no longer need for anything... except entertainment. Aboard the Donut space station are several generations of the descendants of the original settlers of the station. Anyone participating will play a character living in this society and they will all decide how to spend there time in a place with amazing technology, unlimited resources and no permanent consequences.

This is a chance for service members past, present, and future to get to know one another. Less then 1% of the population joins a branch of the armed service, those that are fans of MLP:FiM is even smaller. This is a chance to actually meet one another and build stronger bonds of friendship and camaraderie.

Double Rainboom is a fan-made episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, written and directed by FlamingoRich, aka Zachary Rich. Through the combined efforts of bronies across the internet and other students from the Savannah College of Art & Design – as well as special permission from Hasbro Inc. - the episode features a full orchestral score, studio-quality sound effects, voice actresses for the ponies, and show-accurate animation. Haven’t seen it yet? Then come on down and watch it on the big screen! Zachary Rich will host a question & answer session afterwards and talk about what it took to make the episode.

Super Smash Brothers Melee event for the ponies who would enjoy to sit and reminisce on a great four-player fighting game

Writing is more than just putting down words in a particular order. There exists a poetry to language that can convey ideas far beyond simply what is said. "Ask not what Equestria can do for you, but what you can do for Equestria." "From all of us together, together we are friends." In this panel, we'll talk about the ways in which we say things that carry so much more than just the words themselves.

A selection of "Friendship Reports" submitted by the community concerning life, laughter and the hardships we overcome will be read aloud with audience interaction. This is a very powerful panel digging to the very core of why we all love My Little Pony. Please, for respect we ask that there be no video recording.

Have you ever wanted to bring you favorite pony to life? This panel will go over some methods for you to begin costume construction. We will cover both do-it-yourself and purchased costumes, as well as the many different ways to bring a Pony to life as a costume.

Michelle Creber and Andrea Libman are voice actors, but also sing in character too. They'll explain this side of their craft, and what differences and challenges there are compared to just simply speaking the part.

Sibsy and Raven have worked on all three seasons of MLP:FiM. Come hear them explain what storyboarding is, what tools they use, and the overall process behind taking a script and starting to turn it into animation.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to get noticed in the fandom as a writer? With so many places to post and so many options to pursue, it can be hard to get past the slush piles. Thankfully, though, Horizon will be glad to help cover topics from getting featureboxed on FIMFiction to passing EqD's editing guidelines to soliciting feedback.

Or your own cutie mark charms, pony cards, pony origami, and your very own paper bag pony puppet pal! Assist us in building the greatest box fort/puppet theater this side of Equestria, and shenanigans will ensue. You can even add your original characters or show characters to our pony splash page, a giant poster featuring everyone's idea's. Come and get creative at the Everfree Arts & Crafts room!

Legends of Equestria is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. As a player, you will be able to explore the in-depth universe of Legends of Equestria by creating your own custom pony avatar and embarking on many different quests and adventures which can be found throughout the game! You'll be able to earn and customize your very own cutie mark, as well as take part in the game's massive and comprehensive story.
